Choosing a Living Room Carpet in Goudhurst

A living room carpet needs to look good and cope with everyday life. Whether you’re updating a cosy sitting room or a busy family space, the best choice is one that balances appearance, comfort and how the room is used. At The Fitted Carpet Company’s Hawkhurst showroom, customers from Goudhurst can compare carpet samples and discuss the options before arranging a home measure.

Think about how the room is used

A room used every evening by children, pets and visitors may benefit from a different carpet than a quieter formal sitting room. Consider foot traffic, the amount of furniture, whether food and drink are regularly brought into the room, and how much maintenance you’re happy to do.

Wool or easy-care fibres?

Wool and wool-blend carpets offer a natural look and a comfortable feel. Many man-made ranges provide practical cleaning advantages for busy households. The best choice depends on the particular carpet’s construction and care instructions, not simply whether it is wool or synthetic.

Choosing the right texture and colour

A twist pile can be a practical option where appearance retention matters. Softer, deeper piles create a different look and feel, but may show footprints or shading more readily. Light colours can brighten a room; deeper or patterned colours can change how everyday marks appear. Always view a proper sample in your home’s lighting before making a final decision.

Underlay and finishing details

Good fitting starts before the carpet is laid. We’ll discuss whether the existing underlay is suitable, whether the floor needs attention, and how the new carpet should finish at doors and adjoining floors. Furniture moving and old-flooring disposal can also be discussed when arranging the work.
